The question comes first
Each page answers one buyer question, for example "which AI voice generator is best for an ad voiceover?". We pick questions from search and AI-assistant data: what people actually ask before they pay for a tool.
Same input for every tool
Every tool gets exactly the same input: the same script, brief or photo. We use the vendor's newest generally available model on the test day and its default settings, unless the page says otherwise. Voices or styles are chosen by a fixed, written rule before anyone listens, so we can't pick favorites afterwards.
People judge, blind
Results are judged with the names hidden. For audio, every clip is leveled to the same loudness, the order is shuffled for each listener, and the listener hears two clips at a time and picks the better one, or says "too close". We rank with a standard paired-comparison model and only call a difference when it is clear in the data.
We also run AI judges and speech-to-text checks. They help us find problems (a skipped word, a glitch), but no ranking on this site comes from an AI judge alone.
Takes, not cherry-picks
Generative tools give a different result each time. We generate more than one take per voice or prompt and publish how much the takes differed. We never regenerate until a tool "looks good".
Prices and licenses from the source
Every price, free-tier limit and commercial-use rule comes from the vendor's own pricing page or terms. We save a dated copy of each page we quote and show the date next to the number. Prices change; when they do, we update the page and the changelog.
We only publish what we may publish
Audio and images on this site are only shown when the tool's license allows it for the plan we used. Every AI-generated sample is labeled with the company, the model and the voice. Where a license is unclear, we say so and leave the sample out until it is settled.
Money and independence
We pay for the tools we test. Some links may earn us a commission; that never changes a result, and tools without an affiliate program are ranked the same way. See our disclosure.
Corrections
If you find an error, tell us and we will check it and note the fix in the page's changelog.
